Beverly McGee Wofford

Anderson, SC - Beverly M. Wofford, age 90, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, after a brief illness. Beverly was born in Starr, South Carolina, the daughter of Elias Thomas McGee, Sr. and Helen Wiles McGee. A long time resident of Anderson, Beverly also lived at Edisto Beach for many years, prior to moving back to Anderson to be closer to her family.

Beverly is preceded in death by husband Benjamin Rice Wofford, Sr. of 47 years. She is survived by her brother Elias Thomas McGee, Jr. (Brenda) of Louisa, Kentucky; her children, Camille Solley (Steve) of Huntsville, Alabama, Martha Long of Clayton, North Carolina, Benjamin Rice Wofford, Jr. (Linda) of Seneca, South Carolina, and David McGee Wofford (Donna) of Anderson, South Carolina. She is also survived by grandchildren, Beverly Landsburg (Eliot), Jack Long, John Long (Ashley), Benjamin Wofford, Anna Wofford, Krystin Ball (Chandler), Victoria Wofford and Kennedy Wofford; two great-grandchildren, Wofford Ball and Weston Ball, and numerous cousins and friends. Beverly was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Beverly attended Converse College and graduated from Lander University in 1948. Loving music and the arts, Beverly sang in the church choir, enjoyed needlework, especially counted cross stitch, and volunteering with church activities. While living at Edisto Beach, she enjoyed fishing, crabbing and playing bridge. As a devoted life – long member of the Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed women’s Bible groups and helping with mission programs to serve those in need. She also enjoyed sending notes and cards to people to keep in touch with church friends and loved ones. Also, Beverly was a dyed in the wool Clemson fan and enjoyed watching all the Clemson games on television.

You may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Sullivan-King Mortuary at 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson, SC. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5, at Midway Presbyterian Church conducted by Dr. John McCallum.
