Walters Eugene “Bozo” Jones

Walters Eugene “Bozo” Jones, 77, husband of Shelby Whitman Jones, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Iber John and Thelma Dean Jones. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired pipe-fitter and welder. Mr. Jones was a volunteer with the Iva Rescue Squad and was a member of the Iva Jaycees and Iva Lodge #238 A.F.M. He was also a member of Good Hope Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Men’s Sunday School Class Teacher, and facilities manager. 

Survivors include his wife, Shelby W. Jones of the home; two daughters, Angel Marie Hinson of Seneca and Carmen Jones of Pensacola, FL; three grandsons, Jesse Hinson and wife, Alice, Austin Hinson and Cameron Hinson; two brothers, Billy O. Jones of Detroit, Michigan and John N.P. Jones and wife, Kay of Antreville; and a sister, Barbara Fields of Iva.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Iber Jones, Jr. and Dewitt Jones and two sisters, Gladys Maness and Rossie Hewell. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, at Iva First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jan Culpepper and Rev. Jerry Gray. Burial will follow in Iva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
