Anderson, SC - Barbara Kay Cromer, widow of Charles B. Cromer, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late James Rhett and Inez Campbell Kay. She was a 1949 graduate of Anderson Girls High School where she excelled in basketball and field hockey. She was professional and personal secretary to Dr. William F. Bolt for over 25 years and retired from Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital after 19 years of service at the age of 72. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. To all who knew Barbara, she was affectionately called NEENA, especially by her family whom she adored. She and her husband Charles enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family at their home. She was known to be gracious in giving of her time to help others in their time of need.
Barbara is survived by two sons, Brant Cromer and wife, Cindy of Anderson and Andy Cromer of Simpsonville; two grandsons, Adam Cromer and wife, Nicole and Lee Cromer and wife, Casey; four great grandchildren, Allie, Lacie, Madison, and Ethan Cromer; one sister, Lucretia Snipes and husband, Joda; one brother, Fred Kay and wife, Polly; and a sister-in-law, Betty Kay.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Burgess and two brothers, Junior Kay and Charles Kay.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. The family is at the home of Brant and Cindy Cromer, 156 Easy Gap Road, Anderson.
