Anderson, SC - Lawrence Clifton Chamblee, Jr., 80, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Lawrence Clifton and Mary McClure Chamblee. He was a graduate of Clemson University and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Larry was owner and operator of L.C. Chamblee & Son, Inc. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Sojourners Sunday school class. 

Survivors include his daughter, Catherine C. Stathakis and husband, John Pete; his son, Lawrence C. “Cliff” Chamblee III and wife, Leise, all of Anderson; three grandchildren, P.J. Stathakis, Nikki Ann Stathakis, and Christopher Hayden Chamblee; and two step-grandchildren, Nick Hawkins and Taylor Geslison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ledbetter Chamblee and a sister, Mary Ann Gilmer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, at First Baptist Church of Anderson conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The family is at the home of Alexandria Stathakis, 72 Oleander Drive, Anderson. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 307 South Manning Street, Anderson, SC 29624; Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 East Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621; or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622.
