Betty B. Campbell

Anderson, SC - Betty Brown Campbell, 82, wife of William L. “Bill” Campbell, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at her residence. 

Betty was born April 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Kinard P. and Eva Smith Brown. Betty graduated Hanna High School with honors, attended Anderson College, and graduated from Limestone College with honors. She did graduate work at Clemson University. She worked at Singer Plant in Anderson for 20 years and worked in supervision at Westinghouse in Pendleton for 10 years until retiring because of failing health. In 1992, she had a liver transplant at MUSC. After recovery, she volunteered and worked at Hospice of the Upstate for 20 years. She also did volunteer work for SCOPA, which is an organ donation organization. Betty was a life-long member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, the cemetery committee, and the Lawton Missionary Group.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; two sons, David “Sandy” Shore, Jr. (Mary), and Andrew B. “Andy” Shore (Margaret); two step-daughters, Debra Bannister (David) and Linda Campbell; grandchildren, Kaleb Shore (Rachel), their children, Danni Rae, Drue Ann, and Drake; Leigh William (Ingo), their children, Noah, Zoe, Jonas, and Cyus; Amber Crisp (Jason), their children Gracyn and Klaydi; Taelor Campbell, Rebecca Snelgrove, Elle Bannister, and Christopher Mills.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nikki Cartee and several special people in her life, Joe Brown, Alice Beck, and Marian Brown Watson. 

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Flat Rock Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ed Hunsinger and Rev. Nancy Blakely. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The family is at the home of Amber and Jason Crisp. 

Betty’s request to remember her is to sign an Organ Donor Card ( and make a donation to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Flat Rock Cemetery, c/o Melanie B. Jones, 513 Wesley Court, Starr, SC 29684.
