Jeff Waters announced today that he will be seeking election to the At Large seat being vacated by Councilman Blake Williamson.  Waters is a long time resident of Anderson and for the last several years has made downtown Anderson his home.  Waters, along with family members purchased and renovated 121 North Main Street, the building that houses not only residential space but Matty’s Downtown restaurant.  Waters commitment to downtown Anderson and his leadership with the Main Street Program were instrumental in creating the Downtown Block Party.  The weekly block party’s success in drawing large crowds to the downtown area served multiple purposes, most important of which have been positive economic benefits for downtown retailers.

“I love this city and couldn’t be more excited about the potential to serve the constituents of Anderson in this new capacity. My involvement with various downtown and city programs has proven to me that we are a city of limitless possibilities.  I feel a passion to serve and I am committed to working hard towards ensuring that we not only reach but exceed the potential to be a city we are all proud to call home.”

In addition to his involvement with the Main Street Program he is also a member of the Kiwanis Club and recently headed up a fundraising drive for one of Anderson’s charitable organizations, Anderson Interfaith Ministries.

Waters is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College in Atlanta, Ga. For the past 11 has worked as a funeral director and embalmer with Sullivan King Mortuary. He is married to DeeDee Sizemore Waters and they are members of NewSpring Church. Jeff may be contacted at (864) 934-2524, or on his FB candidate page: Jeff-Waters-for-City-Council.
