County Awards Contract to Patch Roads

ANDERSON COUNTY, SC—Anderson County Council recently approved bid awards for the 2010 Paving Contract and the 2010 Full Depth Patching Package. The Anderson County Purchasing Department releases bid packages for all the County’s paving and patching needs on an annual basis. By soliciting bulk bids, the County is able to secure better pricing. The list of roadways is compiled and reviewed by county staff and submitted to County Council for review and approval. Once the Council approves the priority list, staff seek funding from any available sources, which include council district paving funds and C-Funds administered by the Anderson County Transportation Committee.

The County advertised 2 bid packages that will take care of Anderson County roadways during 2010. The 2010 Full Depth Patching Package, awarded to F & R Asphalt for $344,460, was approved by Council during their February 16th meeting. This work has already begun.

On March 2nd, County Council approved the 2010 Paving Contract award for $1,847,496.98 to Pickens Construction. The paving bid deadline was February 19th at 2 pm, with a mandatory pre-bid meeting on Friday February 12th. Tentative start date is March 8, 2010 with completion date set for July 31, 2010.
