AU Men’s Tennis Ranked First South Atlantic Conference

Men’s Tennis Tabbed as Team to Beat in South Atlantic Conference

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After making its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance at the conclusion of the 2010 campaign, the Anderson University men’s tennis team has earned respect from its new conference prior to its first season in the SAC, as the Trojans are predicted to finish first in the conference by the league’s coaches as released by the conference office Thursday afternoon.

“We are excited about being part of the South Atlantic Conference and are honored to be picked number one,” said Anderson head coach Joey Eskridge. “I hope our guys can represent Anderson University and the South Atlantic Conference in a positive manner as well as live up to the preseason ranking. There are some really good teams in our conference and we are going to have to be prepared to do battle every week of this season.”

AU tallied a 13-8 overall record last season, including a stellar 8-1 Conference Carolinas’ mark and will be paced by paced by Stan Atema, a preseason All-Conference second team selection. Anderson received five first place votes and 90 total points.

The Trojans open the 2011 season with a match at conference-foe Newberry on Feb. 12.
