Registration for Anderson School District Five kindergarten classes will be held in the elementary schools on Wednesday, February 9th beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. Kindergarten pupils are to register in the attendance area where they legally reside.

Full-day kindergarten will be available for all students in the district’s ten elementary schools. Bus transportation will be provided for pupils who live at least one and one-half miles from school.

To be enrolled, a pupil must be five years old on or before September 1, 2011, and have a legal/original birth certificate, and South Carolina Certificate of Immunization. (The original/legal birth certificate is not the one issued by the hospital.) The required South Carolina Certificate of Immunization, Form 1148, must be issued and signed by a private physician, personnel of the County Health Department, or a military clinic.

PLEASE NOTE:  Students entering kindergarten or first grade require either proof of Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine or verification that the child has had the illness.  The requirement of diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DPT) vaccines for your child has increased from three (3) to four (4) doses, with at least one (1) dose received after the fourth birthday. Two valid proofs of residency are also required.  These may be a current power, water, or phone bill, a lease agreement, or a contract on your house. A driver’s license is not accepted as proof of residency.

A physical examination is encouraged but not required. If you wish to seek assistance in securing a physical examination and/or other health care for your child, contact the County Health Department.

If you have questions about kindergarten registration procedures, please contact the principal of the school in the zone of your legal residence.
