AU to Celebrate National Student-Athlete Day Wednesday

The Anderson University Athletics Department will honor its’ athletes Wednesday as part of a nationwide celebration of National Student-Athlete Day.
National Student-Athlete Day is sponsored by the NCAA, the National Consortium for Academics and Sports and the National Federation of State High School Associations. It began in 1987 to recognize college and high school student-athletes who have excelled in balancing athletics and campus and community involvement.
“This is a wonderful opportunity, recognized at the national level, for us to honor and thank our student-athletes for their commitment and dedication to our university and to their chosen sport,” said Anderson Director of Athletics Nancy Simpson. “These students are the reason that we are here and this is our chance to show our appreciation to them for all that they do.”
Anderson’s more than three hundred student-athletes will have a picnic dinner served in their honor during the softball doubleheader versus Wingate Wednesday afternoon.
