The Mountains to Midlands Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has awarded a $71,500 grant to AnMed Health to provide breast health services for uninsured and underinsured women in Anderson and Pickens counties.

The grant from Komen for the Cure will provide free screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, and educational materials. AnMed Health’s Breast Diagnostic Services and Education Program is designed to help women who would otherwise go without breast health services. Anyone who needs assistance for a mammogram should call Pat Eberhardt, RN, at (864) 512-4091 to see if she qualifies.

“We are overjoyed to receive this grant,” Eberhardt said. “There’s great need and few resources available to help this particular population. So many families have lost jobs and are going without health coverage. This grant will help remove the financial barriers to care for many women.”

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, and the Mountains to Midlands Affiliate is one of 125 Affiliates on the front lines dedicated to ending breast cancer in their communities. Komen Affiliates fund innovative programs that help women and men overcome the cultural, social, educational and financial barriers to breast cancer screening and treatment.

“To meet needs we have discovered right here in our community, this year’s grant slate specifically addresses access to care and screening services and provides tangible support services for breast cancer survivors,” said Liza Owens-West, Affiliate Grant Chair.
