27 Dist. 5 Students Chosen for Girls and Boys State

A total of 27 District Five students have been selected to attend Palmetto Girls State and Palmetto Boys State.

Palmetto Boys State will be held this year at Anderson University from June 12-18. Palmetto Girls State will be held at Presbyterian College in Clinton, also from June 12-18.

Boys State is sponsored by the American Legion and Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Delegates to both groups spend a week participating in mock elections and governmental exercises as a way of learning more about how government works.

Delegates to Girls State are: Eandra Hall, Megan Hughes, Aurie Jones, Lauren McCall and Laura Wewers of Westside High School and Alexis Craft, Mary Frances Martin, Leigh Ramsey and Tara Scott of T.L. Hanna High School, an IB World School.

Delegates to Boys State are: David Buchanan, Corey Davis, Quinton Gilliard, Andrew Merriweather, Gunnar Page, Calvin Ruinard, Devon Sherrell, Grayson Smith, Ethan Taylor and Brett Wilson of Westside and Aaron Collins, Benjamin Crocker, Tanner Dawson, Jordan Foushee, Kyle Jones, Thomas McAllister, Zachary Posey and David Smith of T.L. Hanna. 

In addition, alternates chosen for Palmetto Girls State are: Ashley Dickson and Rebecca Fredericks of Westside and Glenn Elizabeth Suggs and Jennifer Nicole Hughes of T.L. Hanna.
