Lakeside Teacher Earns Scholarship to Science Institute

Mary Resa, a math teacher at Lakeside Middle School of Inquiry and Innovation, a STEM School, recently participated in the 35th annual SECME Summer Institute with the help of a $3,000 DuPont Scholarship.

SECME’s Summer Institute is the only professional development institute dedicated to bringing K-12 educators, university faculty, and industry and government experts together to contribute unique perspectives on equity and inclusion initiatives with a focus on "learning and doing science, technology, engineering, and math."

SECME’s Summer Institute is committed to advancing STEM hands-on, standards-based teaching strategies, to providing cutting-edge learning and teaching experiences, to sharing best practice and research innovations, to encouraging networking with like-minded pipeline partners, and to supporting classroom teachers with year-long follow-up mentoring. This year’s Summer Institute was held June 19-26 at The University of Alabama–Tuscaloosa.
