Facebook Tops "100 Best Places to Work" List

Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Facebook has topped the list of Glassdoor's 10th annual list of the 100 Best Places to Work in the United States.

The job-hunting website on Wednesday released its list of top large companies to work for, as voted by employees.

Glassdoor CEO Robert Hohman told CNBC, "This year's list represents a diverse group of employers hiring across the country, including top companies in tech, retail, healthcare, consumer goods, consulting and more."

Ratings were based on anonymous employee reviews and ratings on a scale from 1 to 5, with every company in the top 10 earning at least 4.5. The average rating of the 700,000 companies reviewed on Glassdoor is 3.3.

Facebook has been on the list for eight consecutive years and No. 1 three times. Workers said they like the company for several reasons.

"What we really see them appreciate most is the company's mission-driven culture, transparent leadership and the fact that their work literally impacts the lives of billions of people worldwide," said Hohman.

Facebook's Lori Goler, vice president of people, told Forbes, "Diversity is critical to our mission at Facebook, because we serve a community of 2 billion around the world, and of course there's diversity in that community."

No. 2 on the list is Bain & Company, a Boston-based consulting firm that, according to Hohnman, demonstrated "an impressive consistency and ability to keep their workforces engaged and satisfied. What's more, they offer a company culture that their employees truly believe in."

Bain is one of three companies that's made the list every year. The others are Google, ranked fifth this year, and Apple, ranked 84th.

Others in the top five are Boston Consulting Group and In-N-Out Burger.

Other companies rated in the top 10, are yoga retailer Lululemon, marketing startup HubSpot, World Wide Tech, St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and Ultimate Software.

Ultimate Software, based in Miami, made the list for the first time.
