Humidity, Heavy Rain Expected this Week

Humidity and rain from Alberto will headline the forecast over the next 3 to 5 days.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until early Wednesday as at least 2-4" of rain are expected to fall in our area, with locally higher amounts. There is a heightened mudslide/rockslide threat in the mountains of western NC, as excessive rain has been the story over the last 7 to 10 days.

Monday, rain gradually increases in coverage and intensity as Alberto moves closer. Memorial Day will feature a good chance of a passing heavy downpour, but continuous rain is most likely during the morning hours. Expect highs to hold in the 70s.

Landfall of Alberto is expected along the Florida Panhandle Monday afternoon, likely close to the Alabama border. This will continue to send rain into the southeast for the next several days.

Tuesday and Wednesday's wet weather potential continues with more waves of heavy rain, but a total washout is still unlikely. There is also a small threat for stronger storms during the day Tuesday.

By Thursday and Friday, the remnants of Alberto will be long gone and significant rain chances will start to decrease as a result. However, some scattered showers and storms will remain possible but the coverage should be much less compared to earlier in the week.
