Green Pond to Open New Restrooms Tuesday

Green Pond Landing & Event Center will offically open the newly completed restrooms at a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m. Tuesday.. The two-story facility is part of the next stage of the facility, which has become one of the top fishing destination in the nation.

“The tournaments we host can draw crowds up to 3,000 in a day’s time," said Matt Schell, Parks Department Manager for Anderson County. "This restroom facility will greatly improve the experience and accommodations at Green Pond Landing.”

The restroom was designed by local firms LS3P and Seamon Whiteside and Associates and built by Glenn Constructors and Anderson County’s Public Works Division.

This investment contributes to the $6 million investment into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer-leased property to-date. Funding for this restroom comes from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Legislative Delegation.

“Anderson County is incredibly proud of the working relationship with all of our funding partners," said Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn". Green Pond Landing wouldn’t be where it is today without everyone at the table.” - Tommy Dunn, Anderson County Council Chairman.

SC DNR Water Recreational Resource funds, Federal Sport Fish Restoration Funds, the PCB Injury Settlement, and revenue from the county accommodations fee represent the primary funding sources for Green Pond.

The opening of the new bathrooms comes just ahead of next weekend's Bassmaster Elite Tournament at the facility. Green Pond Landing has hosted two Bassmaster Classics, three years apart, and nearly 100 top-tier fishing tournaments since opening in February 2015.
