Letter to Editor: County Need to Control Growth Before It's Too Late
Ruby King Gerisch, Anderson
As an 8th generation citizen of Anderson County, I have deep concerns about the out of control growth around the county.
Crowded, badly planned subdivisions are popping up across our area. I am concerned about the quality of these homes and their future effect upon our infrastructures, roads, fire departments, law enforcement, and schools which are already over burdened by the current population.
New schools are at near capacity by the time they are built. These investors are not concerned about the affect of this upon our county and it’s citizens. They are seemingly only concerned about a quick buck and will not be around to speak to the repercussions of their actions, much like the carpetbaggers of yesteryear! I ask the county council and all administration officials to please take needed actions to control this out of control growth.
We do not owe it to Greenville to become their bedroom community at the cost of the very way of life that many of us hold dear in this county. Our farmlands and woodlands are being bulldozed by dozens and hundreds of acres. We must take control before it is too late.
