S.C. House 6 April Cromer

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

1. What are the three most pressing needs of your district and how can you help address those needs?

- Our roads are in total disrepair, and our district deserves better. Years ago, politicians promised us they would fix our roads when they raised the Gas Tax. Instead, we are paying more money, with no results. Let's stop spending more and start spending wisely. We need to create an efficient and transparent plan that works for the people - not for special interest groups or politicians who call in favors.

- We have a major issue in our county when it comes to inappropriate materials in our schools. I have worked with local parents to create transparency and give them power when it comes to what their children are exposed to. This isn't about banning normal books, it's about limiting pornographic materials that students shouldn't have access to without their parent's permission. I'm proud of the work I've done so far, and I plan to continue this fight.

- Reckless development is hurting our community. We need to stop giving tax incentives and bring back the free market to allow natural and organic growth.

2. How would you work with the Anderson County Legislative Delegation to work on these issues?

- I will always work with anyone to accomplish the goals and needs of my constituents. We don't always have to agree on every policy, but we can all agree that Anderson County citizens deserve the best representation. We will see changes in the delegation this year due to retirements and Primary Elections. I'm excited for new members, and look forward to working together to help Anderson County.

3. What are the state’s three most pressing needs moving into 2025?

- We have to get spending under control. We cannot continue to spend millions on wine festivals, and give billions to liberal corporations. Taxpayers deserve better, and they deserve their money back.

- Judicial Reform in South Carolina is long overdue. We are one of only 2 states to choose our judges the way we do. It rewards lawyer-legislators, and incentivizes attornies to run for office so they can have sway over the judges they practice in front of.

- Education in South Carolina is of course a main topic. As a member of the Education Committee, I've been proud to fight for - and pass - the first major school choice win in South Carolina. We have a long way to go to ensure parents have the necessary resources to ensure their child gets the education they deserve, but we're moving in the right direction. We also have to make sure we are attracting good, talented teachers to the classroom and retaining them and allowing them to simply teach, not deal with the burdensome red tape that has been put on them.

4. What is your approach to working with other house members to achieve the greater good?

- Again, I will work with anyone who wants to see South Carolina move in the right direction. The people of our state are overwhelmingly conservative, hardworking, and deserve their voice to be heard. I'm proud to be a member of the Freedom Caucus who puts people above anything else.

5. What are three personal or professional qualities that make you the best candidate for this office?

- I'm a mother to two great kids. I've homeschooled, we've done private school, and they both graduated from public school. My experiences allow me to connect with voters and truly understand where they're coming from when it comes to education.

- As a businesswoman, I know how to read and dissect a budget. I'm not going to pass a budget because I'm told to or because I've gotten my pet projects funded. If a budget is filled with wasteful spending, we have to have someone with the knowledge and the courage to stand up and say no. And I'm proud to have done that.

- I've never desired to be a politician. I've term limited myself to 4 terms. I don't go to Columbia and think about how I could get re-elected. I'm there for you - plain and simple.

6. INCUMBENTS ONLY: Name the three most significant accomplishments of your time in office?

1) The Heartbeat Bill - I am proudly pro-life. I am so thankful that South Carolina took a huge step forward in protecting the unborn and am proud to have supported it.

2) Constitutional Carry - The 2nd Amendment is guaranteed in our Constitution. I am proud to have stood for our rights and passed Constitutional Carry.

3) Do No Harm - At the very end of this session, we passed the Do No Harm Bill which will save our children from irreparable harm.
