City Council Oks New Dash Cameras for Police
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Anderson City Council approved, on first reading, ten new dash cameras and updated communication equipment for the City Police as part of Monday’s meeting.
The cameras, at a cost of $73,000, will be paid for mostly through grant funding, and the mobile communication equipment, at a cost of $121,603, will also be used by city law enforcement.
Council also approved a request to hire DP3 Architects, Ltd. (DP3) to evaluate the current roof system and to design an improved roof covering for the Recreation Center roof. As part of the agreement, it was understood that the City would procure a contractor for the project through the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) method after the initial roof evaluation. The CMAR method ensures a collaborative working relationship throughout the construction process between the City, the design team (DP3), and the selected contractor.
Council anticipates the move will save the city money in the project, which will be funded by the City Hospitality Fund.
