African American Leadership Award to Feature International United Way CEO

The United Way of Anderson County’s 6th Annual African American Leadership Society (AALS) Dream Awards Gala will be held Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden in in Anderson.

This year’s keynote speaker is United Way Worldwide CEO Angela F. Williams, who is an Anderson native.

The (AALS) of United Way aims to provide guidance to cultivate leadership in the African American community in an attempt to ensure diverse voices are assembled to address community needs. The leadership council of AALS is made up of community volunteers working to get more African Americans involved in philanthropic, civic and board activities in Anderson County.

Each year, the group recognizes eadership in the African American community by presenting the following awards:

The Emerging Leader Community, The Ambassador Leadership Award, The Community Leader Award, The Community Organization Award, and The Dr. Beatrice Thompson Legacy Award

Funds raised from this year’s event will help pay for a new roof at the Westside Community Center.
