Anderson, Other Counties See Bump in January Jobless Rate
Anderson County's unemployment rate jumped to 3.2 percent in January, up from 2.7 percent in May. December. Every county in the state saw a seasonal increase in their jobless rate for January.
Of the 91,616 member workforce in the county, 88,724 were employed.
The statewide jobless rate, which is calculated differently and seasonally adjusted dropped to 3.2 percent in January, down from 3.3 percent in December..
Nationally, the unemployment rate fell to 3.4 percent in January, edged up to 3.6 in February. South Carolina has yet to post February unemployment rate.
