Anderson University marked the twentieth anniversary of its twelfth president on Wednesday, with a series of honors and testimonials for Dr. Evans Whitaker and his work at the school.
Academic leaders joined local officials in a pair of ceremonies recognizing Whitaker’s accomplishments during his two decades at the school, and was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor as part of the day’s festivities.
To mark the occasion, the State of South Carolina is inducting Dr. Whitaker into the Order of the Palmetto, granting him the state’s highest civilian honor.
During his tenure, Anderson University has grown from 1,600 students to more than 4,200 students, making the school the largest private college in the state.
