Capell Chosen to Lead United Way of Anderson

The new Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Anderson County, Anderson native Kevin Capell, is no stranger to the area.
Capell returns to the area from his current position as Vice President for Investor Development and Engagement at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. He officially begins his job at the United Way Nov. 20.
“I am truly humbled in being selected as the new CEO,” said Capell, adding that he is appreciative of the search committee and board for their confidence in his abilities to lead this organization.
“I’m thankful for those who work, engage in and support the United Way of Anderson County everyday,” said Capell. “I look forward to what’s ahead for the United Way of Anderson and our community. United we will continue to impact lives and improve Anderson County.”
“ I am so pleased that he is coming on board and that we’re going to have a little time to work together,” said United Way CEO Carol Burdette, who is retiring at the end of 2024 after nearly 25 years of leading the organization. “He has an exciting future ahead of him.”
Capell previously served as Director of Business Development and External Affairs for the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, where he oversaw efforts related to marketing and communications, events, community partnerships, membership sales and the overall revenue growth for the organization.
In this role he was also in charge of the chamber’s two leadership programs, Leadership Anderson (of which he was a member of the 35th Class) and Junior Leadership Anderson.
A graduate of Westside High School, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University, and is a longtime resident of the City of Anderson where he lives with his wife Elizabeth, the couple has two daughters: Lauren and Kayla.
