City Approves New Voting Map for Council

Anderson City Council on Monday gave unanimous approval to the required redistricting map which must be in place in time to plan for the city’s April 2 municipal elections.

The fifth draft of the map which moved some boundaries, realigning the city to meet legal requirements based on the United States Census of 2020. Work on redistricting has been underway since January.

The Anderson County Board of Registrations and Elections will now be tasks with shifting precinct lines to reflect the new map,  

Also on Monday, council:

Approved the design, purchase and installation of downtown Christmas decorations to provide additional lighting along Main Street, holiday displays in Carolina Wren Park, lighting the Pavilion, and in the alley next to Doolittle’s for the upcoming holiday season.

Approved the annexation and rezoning of 1.44 acres along Fritz drive to allow multi-family housing.

Approved the following fees for the new City of Anderson shared kitchen. Initial Booking Fee $100.00; Storage and Rental Fees 72-in. Walk-in Cooler Rack $55/month;  72-in. Walk-in Freezer Rack $55/month; 5x4x2 Dry Shelving Rack $45/month; Kitchen User Fees 1st 1 – 35 hours $20/hour, 36th – 80th hours $18/hour 80 + hours $15/hour; Commissary Use Food trucks, trailers and push carts have access to water dumping on the grounds, dishwashing room, and waste/grease disposal at $35 per month.
