City OKs Changes to Subdivision, Reappoints Judges
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Anderson City Council on Monday approved changes to the 30-acre Bailey Creek Commons townhouse subdivision on Simpson Road. Part of the development also includes annexation of an additional property for single-family detached houses.
Revisions to the development include reducing the number of units from 178 to 174, dropping density of housing to 5.7 units per acre, lowering construction costs, protecting some wetlands and mitigating stormwater runoff. Some setback changes were also part of the new regulations.
Also on Monday, Anderson council reappointed the city’s municipal judges on Monday to serve another term. Chief Administrative Josh Allen and associate judges Judge Goetz Eaton, Richard Thompson, Robert King, Matt Lollis, Stacy Blair and Carolyn E. Galloway will serve through Dec. 31, 2025.
Council also approved additions to Bea Thompson Park will be added to focus more on older children and teens and will consist of climbing and netting structures. The design will continue to use the poured-in-place surface. The upgrades will be paid for with $510,000 of Community Development Block Grant Funds and $51,415 in General Funds from the city.
