City Oks Linley Park Bond, Crestview Annexation
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Anderson City Council gave final approval on Monday to annexation of 43 acres on Crestview Road which will be home to 94 lots and will include a 50-foot buffer along Crestview. While some on council expressed concerns on traffic in the area, the roundabouts which are scheduled to be in place by the end of 2025 should keep traffic flowing. Details here.
The new proposal also approved two lots along Midway Road adjacent to the property for single-family home development.
Council also moved ahead with a $5.65 million bond for the Linley Park Project, which is expected to break ground in April with construction set to start in late autumn.
Also on Monday night council approved on first reading:
A Planned Development District for a multi-family development on 3.5 acres at the corner of Murray Avenue and Franklin Street. The current zoning allows for multi-family housing, but the new designation is expected to offer additional design possibilities for the property. More details are expected to be available at the next council meeting.
The purchase of a new truck for the City Water Department. The state-contract bid of Dick Smith Ford in Columbia for $62,189 was chosen. The truck being replaced is a 2003 service truck with more than 100,000 miles on it.
