City Outlines Paving Priorities, Shared Kitchen Fees

Anderson City Council on Monday approved, on first reading, a priority paving/repaving list for local roads.

“We are always evaluating our needs for city and state roads,” said Anderson City Administrator David McCuen, “The Anderson County Transportation Committee has been generous to the city, including recent funding of $1.3 million.” McCuen said the city aims to keep an updated list of the greatest needs to make available to the ACTC, adding that coordination with water and sewer efforts were part of the consideration on paving.

The city is required by the state to provide such evaluation every year.

The following city roads, in order of need, were identified as priorities:  Rose Hill Street, . Mildred Street, . Cathcart Street, Miracle Mile, Perpetual Square Drive, Cardinal Circle,  Cedar Ridge,  Gilmer Street,  Kings Court,  Byrd Lane,  Fairmont Road,  Goodrum Lane,  Grant Street,  Lincoln Avenue,  River Heights Circle,  Kings Mill Court,  Liberty Court , Old Colony Court,  Old Colony Road,  Old Ivy Road,  Patriot Court,  Pioneer Court,  Williamsburg Drive,  Louise Circle,  Mitchell Street,  Carter Hall Subdivision.

The following state roads, listed by priority were identified:  Bedford Drive,  Buckingham Court, Hanover Circle, Kimberly Road,  Northampton,  Nottingham Court,  Wendover Way,  Westchester Drive,  C Street,  Victoria Circle,  Hilltop Drive,.  Summit Avenue, Rantowles Road, North Street,  Power Street,  Mills Street,  B Street,  Spring Street,  Allenby Road,.  G Street, West Reed Street,  Society Street,  Springdale Road, Green Street,  Tanglewood Drive.

Also on Monday, fees were approved or the new City of Anderson shared kitchen. Initial Fees: will be $100 Booking Fee Kitchen Hourly Rental Fees:. First 1-35 hours $20/ hour, 36-80 hours $18/ hour, 80+ hours $15/hour. Cleaning violation fee: will be $50.

Monthly Storage Rental Fees: 72-inch Walk-in Cooler Rack $55/ month; 72-inch Walk-in Freezer Rack $55/ month; 5x4x2 Dry Storage Rack $45/ month. Commissary Use Fees: Food trucks, trailers and push carts have access to water dumping on the grounds, dishwashing room, and waste/grease disposal at $35 per month.

The community space will feature two kitchens, a general kitchen and baking kitchen, both fully staff.

“We definitely need this kind of kitchen for our food entrepreneurs in the city of Anderson," said City of Anderson Economic Development Project Manager Mary Haley Thompson. “This will not only be used for production space, but for classes, certifications and as a full support system.”

The Kitchen is expected to open in November.

Council also approved the annexation and rezoning of 1.44 acres (two lots) along Fritz drive to allow multi-family housing. The adjacent properties are already zoned for the kind of use proposed.
