College Tournament Brings 59 Fishing Teams to Green Pond

More than 250 boats are expected to launch Saturday at Green Pond Landing for the “Hartwell Slam,” the first event of the season for the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series.
The two-day tournament will include anglers from 59 colleges and universities, mostly from the Southeast.
“We’re extremely proud to have the Association of Collegiate Anglers in our community this week for the Hartwell Slam,” said Visit Anderson Executive Director Neil Paul. “The leadership of Anderson County has provided us with one of the finest facilities in America in Green Pond Landing and the resources in which to bring in high level events such as this. This event promises to bring a significant impact for Anderson County. We look forward to welcoming the many anglers, sponsors and families to experience our Anderson County hospitality.”
The event offers total prize payouts of more than $20,000 in prizes and contingencies, and the ACA double points tournament is a no-entry-fee event. Media coverage, including national television coverage, will also be streaming on a variety of platforms.
The Hartwell Slam marks the second time in which the ACA has contested a major college event at Hartwell Lake. Last summer, 400 of the nation’s top collegiate anglers competed at the for the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship
April at Hartwell Lake is considered to be the peak of the spawn for bass.
