Community Groups Offer Holiday Meals in Week Ahead

As the first holiday of the season is only a week away, Anderson-area charities are working to make sure area residents don’t go hungry.
On Monday, AIM and the United Way of Anderson will host at communitywide distribution of a Thanksgiving meal package from 9 a.m-2 p.m. at the Anderson Civic Center. A Valid ID and Proof of Address dated October 1st or later (Utility Bill: electric, gas, water, cable TV, internet, or phone. Bank/credit card statement or social security statement, or Anderson County Property tax bill) are required to verify residency.
Here are some of the other free community Thanksgiving meals available in Anderson between now and Thanksgiving:
Thursday - Olivet Progressive Baptist Church, 1400 South McDuffie Street, Anderson. Meal service begins at 11 a.m. and continues until all food is gone. Sponsored by Olivet Progressive Baptist Church and Southeast Anderson Community Taskforce.

Saturday - Bethel AME Church, 810 South Fant Street, Anderson. Thanksgiving Meal Service, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. 864-224-2609.
Sunday - The Pendleton Rhinos will host our 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner in honor of the late Julie Hammond from 1- 3 p.m. at the Pendleton Depot building. www.pendletonrhinos.com
Sunday - Ms. Sandra Hatton of Mom’s Home Cooking, with assistance from Judah Church, will feed folks at Mom’s Home Cooking in the Anderson Mall. Begins when the mall opens (noon). Note: Ms. Hatton provides free dinners on the third Sunday of every month at her business, Mom’s Home Cooking, located in the Anderson Mall.
November 22 - Anderson Emergency Kitchen, 1527 South Main Street, Anderson. Eat-in, sit-down meal. 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. First come, first served.
Thanksgiving Day - The Haven of Rest Ministries Thanksgiving Meal Ministry, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Meals can be picked up at the tent set up at 219 West Whitner Street, Anderson.
