Council Approves $345M Budget for 2024-25

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Anderson County Council gave final and unanimous approval to a $345 million fiscal year 2024-2025 budget, which includes no tax increase.

The budget includes a four percent raise for employees and additional funding for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Anderson County Councilwoman Cindy Wilson said the budget was a challenge, but it will allow the county to move forward in a responsible way.

Council also gave final approval to the $25 million bond issue for the Pendleton-Anderson-Clemson sewer project.

Administrator Rusty Burns said the sewer upgrades will not include tax increases, but will be paid for by the 5,400 users of the system. A new tap will be $5,800 under the new agreement.

“This will be a state-of-the-art facility,” said Burns, who added that the current aging system was nearing legal capacity and that the upgrades will allow growth moving ahead.
