Council to Look at S.C. 81 Study, Honor Willis H. Crosby

Anderson County Council will consider tax incentives for a new company bringing 25 jobs and a $16 million investment to the county as part of Tuesday’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the historic courthouse downtown.

Council will also vote on a resolution to support the S.C. 81 Corridor study to address issues and concerns related to safety, connectivity and capacity within the highway’s corridor between Wren School Road and Powdersville Main/Piedmont Road on Tuesday.

At the 6 p.m. honors meeting, council will honor the memory of the life’s work of Willis H. Crosby. A long-time fixture on local radio, hosted programs on WAIM-1230 AM and later a weeknight show on WANS-1280 AM and 107.3 FM before finishing his career at WRIX-1020 AM in 1989.

Crosby died after a battle with throat cancer, Crosby died in December 1997,
