Council to Vote on $25M Sewer Bond Tuesday

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Anderson County Council will consider a new sewer system revenue bond as part of Tuesday’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. downtown. The bond, not to exceed $25 million will be used for a variety of planned sewer upgrades and expansion projects.

Council will also vote on first reading of rezoning of 18 acres on S.C. 81 North. The property is currently zoned Highway Commercial and would be rezoned to include multi-family housing.

Council will not vote on the third reading of the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget as part of Tuesday’s meeting. The South Carolina General Assembly is still finalizing the state budget for the upcoming year, which prevents the council from finalizing the county’s budget.

At the 6 p.m. recognition meeting, the council will honor Sitara Veerabagu for her Girl Scout Gold Award and the success of Local 2024 Special Olympics Equestrian Team members in the State Equestrian Show for South Carolina.
