Duncan Will Not Seek Re-Election
Observer Reports
U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan announced Wednesday he will not seek re-election to an eighth term to South Carolina’s 3rd District, which represents 11 counties in South Carolina, the largest of which is Anderson.
Duncan, 58, too office after his election in 2010. The representative said in a release, that:
“At some point in a career, one needs to step aside and allow others to bring fresh ideas and abilities into the fight for liberty, just as I have.”
S.C. State Sen. Richard Cash, R-Anderson, who narrowly lost to Duncan in a runoff election in 2010, is expected to announce his candidacy for the seat.
Allegations by Duncan’s wife of extramarital affairs after last August’s “Faith and Freedom BBQ” in Anderson, led to much speculation about whether Duncan would again seek re-election.
