Families Turn Out for Junior League's "Trucks on Main"
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
The rain stopped and clouds broke Saturday morning just in time for the Junior League of Anderson County’s annual Trucks on Main event downtown. The annual event was slightly altered due to the construction and road closing behind the historic Anderson County Courthouse, but changes had little impact on the crowd.
By noon hundreds of families were on hand to allow the kids to get up close and personal with a variety of big trucks and heavy equipment, including fire trucks, law enforcement vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, as well as meet the men and women who build, protect, and serve Anderson County.
The event is a partnership between the Junior League and the City of Anderson. The goal of the Junior League is to empower women by helping them develop civic leadership skills, then giving them the tools to put their talents to work in the community. The group hosts events to fund a variety of civic and charitable events throughout the year.
