Grant to Bring Williamston New Playground Equipment
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
The playground at Mineral Springs Park is about to get a major upgrade, thanks to a $750,000 grant from the State of South Carolina.
An all-new playground with ADA compliant equipment, including synthetic turf and a fence to keep kids safe are part of the project.
Brookdale Park will also get a new picnic shelter as part of the town’s park upgrades.
Williamston Mayor Rockey Burgess offered thanks to S.C. Rep. Anne Thayer, R-Anderson, for making the project possible.
Burgess also said he hopes the town can sell some of the old equipment to generate revenue and save the town from paying additional funds to have the current playground items removed.
