International Artist Finds Home in Piedmont

After spending much of his life living across the globe, artist Jorge Perez-Rubio has found a home in Piedmont.
Cuban by heritage, his grandfather fled the revolution in 1959, and Jorge grew up in a number of places including Guatemala, Brazil and Venezuela before coming to America. He spent the last few years in China and Egypt.
He now lives in historic Piedmont, with a view of the bridge and historic buildings which provide inspiration and a connection to the past.
Perez-Rubio’s work is on display around the world and he is currently working on a large project near Washington, D.C., as well as a number of other projects, including those which incorporate textile art.
In this interview with the Anderson Observer, he talks about how he got to Piedmont and why is has become home.
