International Michelin Cities Event This Week in Anderson
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
This week the fourth International Conference of Michelin Cities will meet Tuesday-Thursday in and around Anderson, with a series of events highlighting the worldwide impact of the area.
Roughly 200 people representing seven countries will gather for the meetings on such topics as transportation, renewable energy, and arts and culture.
“It puts the spotlight on the City of Anderson,” said Anderson Mayor Terence Roberts. “We have been very intentional about the presence of international companies in our county. It makes sense of us to host an international conference.”
Roberts said the South Carolina Department of Commerce has been a big supporter of the event, which will highlight the entire state, providing $600,000 to help fund the event.
“It never hurts when people from all over the world see what we have and are doing here:” said Roberts.
Anderson was chosen at the third INMC to host the event.
The conference kicks off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Anderson University. Full Schedule here.
The INMC launched in 2014 in Clermont-Ferrand, France, home to the international Michelin headquarters. The goals are to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange between cities around the world where Michelin has a presence.
The conference aims to promote sustainable urban development, knowledge exchange, and collaboration between cities across the world to build a global community to develop innovative solutions to create more sustainable, equitable, and livable urban environments for the future.
