Anderson County will ring in Labor Day weekend with style this year with a headline act that has been a crowd pleaser for decades.

After years of country music offerings, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers “Kool & the Gang” will headline this year’s Celebrate Anderson on Aug. 31. Kool & the Gang has performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history, and their groove of funk and jazzy arrangements have made them the most sampled R&B band of all time.

Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns said the county listened to those who have asked something different for Celebrate Anderson.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kool & the Gang to Anderson County," said Burns. "As the hitmakers who have given the world the song 'Celebration,' they are the perfect fit for our Celebrate Anderson Festival. These world-class performers who know how to bring just the right end of 'Summer Madness' to Anderson County," said Burns.

2025 marks the 26th year of the county’s gift to its citizens which features not only the free concert in the William A. Floyd Amphitheater, followed by a fireworks show.

The concert will require a free ticket to enter. Organizers expect the event to reach capacity and encourage fans to get tickets early. You can secure your ticket beginning Friday at www.andersonevents.com.

Lawn tickets are for fans who wish to bring their blankets and chairs to set up on the lawn. Standing Room Only tickets are for those who want to dance up close to the stage, where chairs are not permitted. Fans are reminded that securing the free tickets helps organizers best prepare for and communicate important information about the event to ticket holders.
