Legal Proceedings Return to County Courthouse Friday
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
After nearly five months, court will reopen in the Anderson County Courthouse on Friday.
Potentially faulty parts in the elevator forced the county to move court proceedings to other locations including the historic courthouse, the Ronnie Townsend Building on North Main, and the county’s 1428 building (the old Singer/TTI) site on Pearman Dairy Road, while repairs were made.
Thyssenkrupp, who upgraded the elevators recently, notified the county of the issue in mid-September, and Anderson County officials met Sept. 29 to secure alternative sites for all court activities, except for magistrate court.
Those with scheduled court dates have been been informed of changes of venue back to the county courthouse.
