Mercy Chapel Marks Nine Years of Compassionate Service
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Anderson’s South Main Chapel and Mercy Center is celebrating nine years of service to the community with expanding efforts to help friends, neighbors and family members in need.
The ministry serves breakfast and lunch five days a week at their facility on South Main Street, and is a ministry hub in the neighborhood that once housed Orr Mills. From medical and mental health assistance, to finding rides to work, the church works with other nonprofits and churches in the area to serve those who need a little extra help and a safe, compassionate place to find fellowship.
The Rev. Kurt Stutler, pastor of the church, said the financial and volunteer support of the community is crucial to their work. Stutler discussed the past nine years of ministry at the church, and plans for the future in this interview with the Anderson Observer (which also includes details on the new programs from Mercy Chapel’s Ministry Associate/Case Manager Elizabeth Hiott.)
