New Concert Series Brings Variety to Civic Center

It’s welcome news.

After years of spotty live entertainment at the Anderson Civic Center, a new concert series will feature four events featuring tribute band combinations that cover a variety of rock and pop bands and musicians in the amphitheater.

The Legends Concert Series kicks off July 12, with three bands paying tribute to Styx, Pat Benatar and Journey. August 9 offers tributes to Fleetwood Mac, The Cars and Tom Petty. Sept. 13 brings the Elton John/Billy Joel tributes. The series closes Oct. 11 with bands paying homage to Chicago and the Eagles

“We’re excited to get this series at the amphitheater,” said Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns. “Tickets are affordable and bring some new musical variety to the county.”

Tickets are $40 for General Admission (bring your own chairs); $75 for Platinum Seating (chairs included); and $125.00 for VIP seating which includes chair, drink and food coupon, VIP Parking, and access to VIP Tent.

Season packages are available at www.andersonevents.com beginning Friday.

First Responders, Law Enforcement, Military and Veterans active or retired will receive a free ticket to one concert of their choice by emailing info@legendsconcertseries.com with your valid ID or status.

Burns said that the expansion of events, which includes the two-day “Rock the Country,” is made possible by the county’s investment in a new permanent stage at the venue. Anderson County invested almost $800,000 in funding for the new stage for the amphitheater in 2022, with the goals of attracting higher levels of talent to the venue as well as saving money moving ahead.

The original stage was condemned, and the county has been renting portable stages for outdoor events which are not conducive to attracting some acts which have certain stage requirements.

The new stage seems to be meeting expectations, with recent shows such as Martina McBride, Darius Rucker, and Pitbull drawing crowds of 2,000-12,000.
