Republicans Win Big in S.C, National, State Races

With a turnout of 72 percent, there were few surprises in the state and national voting in Anderson County Tuesday.

In the presidential election, the county cast 65,305 votes for Donald Trump and 23,910 for Kamala Harris.

It was a big night for the state Republican Party with wins in United States House Dist. 3, South Carolina State Senate Dist. 3, S.C. State Senate Dist. 4, and S.C. House Districts 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 all going to the GOP.

In the U.S. House Dist. 3, Sheri Biggs easily won the seat vacated by Jim Duncan, with 64,922 votes to Democrat Bryon Best’s 20,925.

With 44,942 votes, S.C. Sen. Richard Cash held onto his Dist. 3 Seat defeating Democrat Jessicka Spearman, who received 14,765 votes.

S.C. Senator Mike Gambrell ran unopposed.

S.C. Rep. April Cromer, Dist. 6, kept her seat with 15,845 votes over Democrat Tony Wagoner who received 5,481 votes.

S.C. Rep. Don Chapman held his seat with 14,018 votes to Alliance Party challenger Jackie Todd who got 2,062 votes.

Lee Gilreath won the S.C. House Dist. 7 seat with 9,149 votes to Libertarian Hunter Savirino’s 1,041 votes.

Blake Sanders will replace the Dist. 9 seat vacated by S.C. Rep. Anne Thayer after running unopposed Tuesday.

Incumbent S.C. Rep. Thomas Beach also ran unopposed and will return to Columbia to serve Dist. 10.

Same for Incumbent S.C. Rep. Craig Gagnon, Dist. 3, who ran unopposed.
