Sanders Expects to Hit Ground Running in Columbia

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

S.C. Rep. Blake Sanders, R-Anderson, is the new representative for the state’s House Dist. 9 seat, but he’s no stranger to anyone active in the community or state.

Sanders has been instrumental in the planning and implementation of projects not only in Anderson County, but across most of South Carolina as well as dozens of other states. The founder and owner of Studio Main LLC, Sanders was instrumental in planning some major projects, including the Swamp River Trail. He also served for eight years as mayor of West Pelzer (and was the second youngest mayor in the state when elected), where he turned a mostly underused stretch of S.C. 8 into the “Upstate’s Front Porch,” aiding in the filling up of housing and businesses and creating a walking community.

His approach to politics is “people over politics,” and is looking forward to his first term in Columbia after being sworn in last week. Sanders found he already had established working relationships with many legislators due to his work in their counties on strategic projects, and expects those to aid in working for citizens of both the county and the state.
