Feb. 27 Meeting to Discuss Midway Road Double Roundabouts
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer’
The South Carolina Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting regarding a pair of roundabouts slated to be constructed near the intersections of Midway Road, Harriett Circle and Crestview Road Feb. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at T.L. Hanna High School.
Traffic is already an issue, especially during school pickup times, in the area. Crestview often sees backups of more than 30 cars at the Midway Road Stop sign during this time. With more than 600 new housing units under construction near the intersection, most as part of the City of Anderson’s annexation efforts, traffic issues are expected to grow exponentially worse.
Two roundabouts, set for construction in late 2024, hope to relieve some of the congestion. The roundabouts are scheduled to be built at the corner of Midway and Crestview, and at a new cut across from Harriett Circle to Midway south of the Midway Presbyterian Church graveyard. A short portion of Harriett Circle would also be permanently closed after the new traffic-reduction efforts are complete.
