Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
The Anderson Arts Center opened a new exhibit featuring artwork from youth across the county. The annual Youth Art Month exhibit can be viewed now through Thursday. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Youth Art Month is a nationwide campaign created to celebrate and promote arts education across the country. Created by The Council for Art Education, this annual celebration emphasizes the importance of visual arts for children and encourages support for quality school art programs.
The Anderson Arts Center partners with the Anderson County public school system, homeschool associations, and private schools within Anderson County to recognize skills developed through visual arts experiences. Teachers select 10 pieces of art from their respective schools to enter into the juried competition.
There is a special Sunday open house to provide additional viewing times. Guests may visit on Sunday between 1-3 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m.
