West Pelzer Celebrates Heritage with Dog Show

One of the bedrock principles of West Pelzer was founder John Franks insistence that dogs were an important part of the community, a belief not shared by the neighboring Pelzer textile leaders.

On Saturday, residents gathered in Chapman Park for the Third Annual West Pelzer Dog Show, an informal event where folks were offered a chance to show off their canine friends.

The winner this year was a beefy pit bull terrier named “Dolph,” who was also the winner of the town’s last dog show when he was a small puppy.
