U.S. House District 3 Byron Best
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
1. What makes you the best candidate in a crowded field running for this office?
3 words: Authenticity, Integrity and Ethics. I take pride in my approach to be genuine in my communication and interaction with voters. People appreciate candidates who are honest and transparent. I pledge to tear down the wall that separates the leaders from the people and build bridges to connect with my constituents in the third district.
2. How would you evaluate the job that Jeff Duncan did in this position?
I will evaluate Jeff Duncan’s job like I would evaluate any republican leadership that South Carolina has had over the past 30 years. They only create legislation that benefits the republican agenda. I don’t believe that he had any interest in what the people really wanted in the third congressional district. Through my travels, throughout the district, there are some areas in the community who didn’t even know who he was.
3. Is there anything you will do differently that you consider a more effective path to serving the Third District?
When I’m elected, I plan on meeting with our local county leadership to create town hall forums. By doing this, it will allow me to have direct access to the citizens in the communities and transparent dialogue with the voters about issues that matter to them
What are the three most pressing issues for this district and how would you address each?
Three Issues: Education, Economic Growth, Medicare
Education -provide funding for teacher training programs, professional development opportunities and incentives to attract and retain high quality educators in South Carolina. Give access to a high-quality education for students, regardless of background and zip code.
Economic Growth- Support key industries that have growth potential in South Carolina, such as
manufacturing, tourism, technology, and healthcare.
Medicare- Allocating funds to provide education and resources to help Medicare beneficiaries
understand their coverage options, rights, and how to navigate the healthcare system
effectively. Invest in healthcare workforce development to address provider shortages to ensure
that Medicare beneficiaries have access to a full range of healthcare services.
4. What are the three most pressing issues facing the U.S. House of Representatives moving into 2025?
1. Women's Rights 2. Immigration Reform 3.Healthcare Reform
5. What is your philosophy of working with other elected representatives, some of whom may have different viewpoints?
I’m open to working with my counterparts to be able to build bridges to connect to a neutral
resolution that helps benefit the citizens of District 3. Even if we have different viewpoints, there
is always a resolution if we are putting the citizens first.
