28 Local Candidates Have Filed for June Primaries Ahead of April 1 Deadline

Filing for the June 11 primaries opened Saturday, and 29 candidates have filed for the partisan elections. Filing is open through April 1.
In the April 2 City of Anderson municipal elections, Anderson businessman Bryce Nivens and Anderson attorney Greg Steele are running for Seat 6, which represents an area that stretches from West of Linley Park, through the Pope Drive community, across to Whitehall Avenue. City Council Seat 6 was left open when Rick Laughridge stepped down after 16 years. Early voting is available through Friday.
Anderson County Council, District 5: Incumbent Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn will face Robert McCurry. Dunn defeated McCurry in 2022 and is serving his eighth term on council.
Anderson County Coroner: Incumbent Coroner Greg Shore will face challenger James Hayes.
State House of Representatives, District 6: Incumbent Freshman Rep. April Cromer, R-Anderson, and Anderson Attorney Kyle White. Eric Childs filed the Democratic nomination for this seat
State House of Representatives, District 8: Incumbent Freshman Rep. Don Chapman, R-Anderson, will face Republican Sherry Hodges.
State House of Representatives, District 9: Blake Sanders, former West Pelzer Mayor and owner of Studio Main, will face James Galyean, CEO at Icelaven Development Group, for the seat that will be left vacant by the decision of Rep. Anne Thayer, R-Anderson, not to run for another term after 14 years in the House.
State House of Representatives, District 10: Incumbent Freshman Rep. Thomas Beach, R-Anderson, will face Republican Pam Anthony.
Tenth Circuit Solicitor: Micah Black will face Beth Blundy and Danny Fulmer for the office vacated by the retiring David Wagner.
In the race to replace Third District U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan, who is not running for reelection, Republicans seeking the seat include Kevin Bishop, and S.C, Rep. Stewart Jones, R-Laurens and Sherri Biggs. Other candidates for the seat include Democratic Party candidate Frances Guldner and Alliance Party candidate Mike Bedenbaugh.
Other candidates/incumbents who have filed but so far face no opposition include:
Anderson County Council: Dist. 1, Chris Sullivan, who is running to replace Councilman John Wright Jr. who is stepping down at the end of his term; Dist. 2 Incumbent Councilman Glenn Davis; Dist. 3 Incumbent Greg Elgin; Dist. 4 Council Vice Chairman Brett Sanders; Dist. 6 Incumbent Jimmy Davis; and Dist. 7 Incumbent Councilwoman Cindy Wilson.
Incumbent Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride.
Anderson County Auditor: Incumbent John Benca.
Anderson County Treasurer: Incumbent Jason Phillips
Anderson County Clerk of Court Reena Thomason.
S.C. House: Dist. 7 Incumbent Rep. Jay West, R-Anderson, S.C. House Dist. 11 Incumbent Rep. Craig Gagnon., Rep-Abbeville.
S.C. Senate: Dist. 3, Incumbent Sen. Richard Cash, R-Anderson; Dist. 4, Incumbent Sen. Mike Gambrell.
