Four of the seven members of Anderson County’s Legislative Delegation were on hand Monday for the annual Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast, an event offering the county’s statewide officials a chance to outline their priorities for the year ahead.

S.C. Sen. Richard Cash, R-Dist. 3, S.C. Sen. Mike Gambrell, R.-Dist. 4, S.C. Rep. Don Chapman, R.-Dist. 8 and S.C. Rep. Blake Sanders, R.-Dist. 9 attended the event which was slated to include the entire delegation. S.C. Rep. Thomas Beach, R.-Dist. 10, S.C. Rep. April Cromer, R.-Dist. 6, S.C. Rep. Lee Gilreath, R.-Dist. 7 and S.C. Rep. Craig Gagnon, R.-Dist. 11 were invited but not present for the event which brought leaders from across the county.

Cash said his top priority for the year was to continue his commitment to passing legislation protecting the rights of the unborn, an issue on which he has been a leader in Columbia since his election. Gambrell said his career-long commitment to constituent services remains at the top of his priority list, saying serving the citizens of Anderson County was the most important thing on his agenda.

Chapman said providing adequate industry infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of industry is his top priority for 2025. He also hopes to reduce regulatory burden on businesses by 25 percent as part of his agenda for the year.

Sanders, the newest member of the delegation, said he echoed Gambrell’s priority of constituent services, saying he had learned this lesson from Gambrell, former S.C. Rep. Anne Thayer and former S.C. Sen. Billy O’Dell. He added that hand in glove with that goal is his commitment to “leading with civility” while in Columbia.
