Candy Store Makes Sweet Investment in Pendleton

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Just across from the Village Green in Pendleton is the town’s sweetest spot.

The Pendleton Candy Company, founded by mortgage banker with a passion for baking, is rapidly becoming a must-stop for visitors to the historic town.

Kimberly Blackwell, a Clemson graduate with a master’s degree from Southern Wesleyan University and banking degree from the University of South Carolina, said throughout her career she never lost her love of baking.

Blackwell said many of her recipes come from her grandmother who favored taste over cutting calories, and that her love for baking sometimes makes for long, but rewarding, hours.

After running restaurants and other shops, she opened the Pendleton Candy Company on the town square earlier this year, after a long wait for just such a spot to come open.

Her love for Pendleton and creating handmade cakes, candies, pies and more have brought joy to Blackwell and those who stop by for a sweet treat. Holiday hours at the Pendleton Candy Company are 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.
